Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage is an orphanage, nursery and captive breeding ground for wild Asian elephants, located at Pinnawala village, 13 km northeast of Kegalle town in Sabaragamuwa province in Sri Lanka. Pinnawala has the largest herd of captive elephants in the world. The orphanage was founded to care and protect the many orphaned unweaned wild elephants found wandering in and near the forests of Sri Lanka. It was established in 1975 by the Sri Lanka Department of Wildlife Conservation. Nuwara Eliya The ‘Little England’ of Sri Lanka, is set against beautiful backdrops of Mountains, Valleys, Waterfalls and Tea Plantations. Samuel Baker, the discoverer of Lake Albert and the explorer of the Nile in 1846, founded the city. It is supposed to be one of the coldest places on the island, but is really just like an England spring day although the temperature does drop at night. Many of the buildings retain features from the colonial period such as the Queen’s Cottage, Grand Hotel, Hill club, Post office etc... Town attractions include the golf course, trout streams, Victoria park, and boating on Lake Gregory. Bentota

With Packed Breakfast you will be proceed to Yala National Park in a 4X4 Jeep. Yala Yala combines a strict nature reserve with a national park. Divided into 5 blocks, the park has a protected area of nearly 130,000 hectares of land consisting of light forests, scrubs, grasslands, tanks and lagoons. Two blocks are currently opened to the public. Situated in Sri Lanka’s south-east hugging the panoramic Indian Ocean, Yala was designated a wildlife sanctuary in 1900 and was designated a national park in 1938. Ironically, the park was initially used as a hunting ground for the elite under British rule. Yala is home to 44 varieties of mammal and 215 bird species. Among its more famous residents are the world’s biggest concentration of leopards, majestic elephants, sloth bears, sambars, jackals, spotted dear, peacocks, and crocodiles. The best time to visit Yala is between February and July when the water levels of the park are quite low, bringing animals into the open. Upon Completion Proceed to Kataragama. Kataragama a popular pilgrimage destination frequented by all three religious groups Buddhists, Hindus and Muslims in Sri Lanka. The main shrine devoted to Skanda popularly described in eulogies as God having six faces and twelve arms whose assistance is sought for worldly gain. The history of the shrine dates back to 2 century BC. The annual procession held in July or August is the main event of the shrine with fire walkers and Kawadi dancers.
